about

Welcome to my blog! I’m Sylvie, a Czech girl who was born in the USA. Every summer, my parents would put my sister and I on a plane to the Czech Republic to be with family. So, a just 6 years old, the travel bug bit me. Since then, I’ve had an insatiable appetite to see the world and learn about the people in it. I explore that appetite by eating local foods- my favorite place to stop in Mexico City are the food stalls outside the metro stop of Insurgentes. 10 pesos for 6 tacos while sitting on a bucket? Count me in. I’m just as comfortable there as I am a higher end restaurant.

Between bites, I like to explore nature and wildlife. I’ve chased the monarchs into Central Mexico, made friends with Groupers 50 feet below the ocean surface, and surfed the waves of Nicaragua. I hope that sharing these places brings light to the importance of preservation. It’s my goal to encourage an increased interest of conservation through exposure. I try to eat vegan/vegetarian when I’m at home, but will often times indulge in local food because I believe it’s part of the cultural experience. If you find restaurant recommendations from me, there may be a combination of regular and vegan restaurants.

I’m so excited to go on this journey with you! Please shoot me an email or find me on Instagram if you have any comments or questions!
